Recognition of Prior Learning refers to being given ‘credit’ for learning or education that has already been undertaken by the student. Recognition of Current Competency refers to the student being given ‘credit’ for the skills and knowledge they can already demonstrate. Credit Transfer is accepting units that have already been achieved through other qualifications as evidence of competency in their current enrolment. Students who believe they already have the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the qualification they are enrolling in may request that their skills and knowledge be recognised formally by completing the RPL Application form and providing evidence to support their claim. Students must provide valid, sufficient, current and authentic evidence to demonstrate competency. More information about validity, sufficiency, authenticity and currency can be found on the RPL Application form. Evidence of current skills/knowledge and/or prior learning may be in the form of:
This is not an exhaustive list – other evidence may also be supplied to support the RPL Application. Should you have questions about whether evidence is relevant, you should speak to the Training Manager for further information. Should the assessor not have sufficient evidence to accept the RPL Application, they may require the student to provide further evidence or to undergo a verbal set of questions. The cost for RPL is to be born by the student. Students will be advised of the cost of the RPL process at the time of the request. Please Contact Us if you require further information.
